Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers allow NAC to offer programs and activities that would not otherwise be possible. They are an integral part of the agency, lending their skills, enthusiasm, and caring. Some volunteer opportunities are ongoing commitments and others are one-time events.

Volunteering for Special Events

NAC has many events throughout the year that depend on volunteer assistance including the NAC December Holiday Party, the NAC Halloween Party, and the NAC Kids Olympics. Volunteers help with preparation, work one-on-one with children, and run activities.

Mentoring

The mentoring program takes place two Saturdays per month during the school year from 11:00am-2:00pm. NAC mentors have the opportunity to develop a rich, meaningful relationship with a child or teen. They are friends, role models, and confidants. Mentors and mentees participate in a variety of activities, trips, and learning experiences together.

Recreational Day Trips

Recreation trips occur on Saturdays during the school year and some weekdays during school vacations. Volunteers accompany NAC children and staff to special destinations.  In winter months trips may include museums, theater, and movies.  Summer outings include the beach, park, and other outdoor events. Volunteers help chaperone and enhance the experience for all involved.

Share Your Skills

Do you have a skill or talent that you can share with NAC children? Volunteers have donated Yoga and dance classes, led programs on money management, and provided make-overs for NAC teenagers.

Matching and In-Kind Gifts

Volunteers may receive matching grants or in-kind donations from their employers as a result of their work with NAC.  Employee groups and volunteers have contributed generously to our food pantry and clothing bank. Matching and in-kind gifts have also been donated for the Holiday Party and Olympics.

“I know a lot of people say a mentor is most like a parent, but for me Danny's more like a brother. He's there when I need him and he's easy to talk to.”

NAC Kids Olympics

It's not everyday that a child with a severe disability or chronic illness has the opportunity to go for the Gold. Cheer on NAC kids as they give their all at the Annual NAC Kids Olympics.
