Meet NAC Foster Families
NAC foster parents are special people. They go above and beyond to assure that children with serious medical and/or behavioral problems have nurturing, safe and loving homes.
Meet just a few of NAC foster parents and read how they have changed lives.
Meghan is a special education teacher. She contacted NAC one day wanting to make a difference in the life of a child with special needs. As a teacher in New York City's public school system, she saw daily the affects of children languishing in foster care.
Margaret has been a foster parent for over 20 years. While she has never adopted, Margaret has provided a supportive and nurturing home for many children who have been able to safely go back and live with their birth parents.
Angela and Rashid never thought they would become foster parents, let alone adopt a child with a disability. Angela is a pediatric nurse who was working in the hospital where Saliman, a child diagnosed with Bartsocas-Papas Syndrome, lived for almost a year.
Yvonne is the single adoptive parent of two children with special medical needs. When asked if she had room in her home for a child with autism, she did not hesitate to say yes.
