New Alternatives for Children (NAC) is an award-winning child welfare agency with 40 years of experience exclusively serving children with complex, chronic medical conditions and co-occurring mental health challenges and their families. NAC operates an on-site Comprehensive Healthcare Center that includes MHOTRS and Article 28 clinics and delivers a range of integrated, interdisciplinary medical and mental health services. The organization is located in midtown Manhattan. The postdoctoral psychologist is incorporated into the psychology department of NAC’s Mental Health department, located at 825 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10019. The psychology team is currently staffed by 5 licensed psychologists.
Currently staff within the mental health clinic are working within a hybrid model, with a combination of in person and remote work. The postdoc would be expected to work in person from the NAC Manhattan office at least three days per week, with possible schedule changes depending on agency policy.
Description of Responsibilities:
The position is structured to provide the incoming postdoctoral psychologist with a balance of clinical service provision, consultation to other professionals within the agency, supervision and t raining. Clinical experiences may be tailored to the expertise and interest of the postdoctoral psychologist. Required Education and Experience:
Candidates for the post-doctoral psychologist position must have completed the course of study and dissertation defense in an APA-accredited PhD or PsyD doctoral program in clinical, counseling or school psychology and completed a Psychology Internship Program. Candidates must be eligible for the NYS Limited Permit in Psychology.
This is a one-year position, from September 2025 through August 2026. The postdoctoral psychologist will be provided with benefits, vacation days, sick days, and personal days. The salary is $50,000 per annum with competitive fringe benefit s. The postdoctoral psychologist responsibilities and supervision will fulfill criteria for the postdoctoral year of experience necessary for NYS Psychology licensure .
Candidates should have some experience working with populations that represent a range of backgrounds and clinical presentations and should have some experience with children and families. Assessment experience is required. Priority will be given to candidates familiar with administration of the ADOS-2 or other autism assessment measures.
